Dragon Anywhere Is Gone (2026). What to Dictate With Now
Dragon Anywhere, the Dragon dictation app for iPhone, iPad and Android, is no longer available. The App Store listing now reads: "As of July 1, 2026, Dragon Anywhere Mobile is no longer available for sale. Purchasing new subscriptions and renewing existing subscriptions is no longer possible." It was the only Dragon product ever sold for phones, so as of October 2026 there is no Dragon app for iOS or Android at all.

What Dragon Anywhere was
Dragon Anywhere was Nuance's cloud-based mobile dictation app, launched in 2015 for iOS and Android. It cost 14.99 dollars per month or 149.99 dollars per year, with a one-week trial, and there was never a one-time purchase or a free tier. It let you dictate documents of any length, add custom words, use formatting commands, and share text to email or other apps.
Despite the name, it was a separate product from Dragon Professional on Windows:

Your desktop Dragon license never included Dragon Anywhere, and your desktop voice profile and custom vocabulary never carried over to the phone. That was the most common complaint about it, and it's why so many searches ask whether Dragon Anywhere is "the same as" Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It wasn't.
What happens to existing Dragon Anywhere subscribers
Per the App Store notice, renewals are no longer possible, so a subscription runs to the end of its current term and then stops. Distributor statements describe a pro-rata renewal window for some business customers through mid-2027, but for an individual with an App Store or Google Play subscription, plan on the app ending when your paid period ends. Export anything stored in the app before then.
The wind-down continues on the desktop side. Dragon Professional Anywhere, the cloud-hosted Windows product that shared the Anywhere name, stops taking new orders on December 31, 2026 and reaches end of life on December 31, 2027, according to an authorized distributor's statement citing Microsoft; Nuance's own release notes don't yet show the date. Dragon Medical One, the clinical product, is not on that schedule.
Is there Dragon for Android?
No. There never was a Dragon NaturallySpeaking for Android; NaturallySpeaking was always Windows desktop software. The only Dragon product on Android was Dragon Anywhere, which is no longer sold. Microsoft has not announced a replacement.
That means every "Dragon NaturallySpeaking APK", "Dragon dictation app free download" or "Dragon speak for Android" result on a third-party site is not from Nuance or Microsoft. Sideloading an unknown APK that asks for microphone access is a security risk, and there is nothing official to find.
Is there Dragon for iPhone?
No. Dragon Anywhere was the iPhone and iPad app, and it's gone from sale. Dragon Professional and Dragon Medical One are Windows-only. iOS already includes on-device dictation in the keyboard, which is adequate for messages and short notes.
Why Dragon Anywhere lost to built-in and AI dictation
Dragon Anywhere required 15-20 minutes of voice training on the phone, charged 150 dollars a year for mobile only, and processed audio in the cloud, which removed the one advantage desktop Dragon still had (local processing). By 2024 the free dictation built into both phones had caught up on casual accuracy, and AI dictation apps had passed it on long-form accuracy with no training and automatic punctuation. Microsoft, which acquired Nuance in March 2022, put its investment into Dragon Medical One and clinical AI rather than consumer mobile.
What to use for mobile dictation now
Both phones have free dictation built in. Google voice typing on Android (the microphone key on Gboard) and Apple's keyboard dictation on iPhone run at roughly 85-90 percent accuracy with no setup. You say your own punctuation, sessions are short, and technical vocabulary is hit and miss, but for texts and quick emails they're enough and they cost nothing.
